Muslim wear is now an important part of the Indonesian fashion world. The country's most prominent fashion event, the 2012 Jakarta Fashion Week (JWF), will also showcase a series of Muslim collections. What will be the trend for next year’s Muslim fashion?
The 2012 JFW will showcase the significant growth of the Muslim fashion industry. No longer limited to the “religious,” Muslim wear has exceeded its initial function as a cover-up. Indonesia has been seeing an increasing volume of local Muslim wear exported to countries like Malaysia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and other Middle Eastern countries. “Patterns, colours, and varieties of Indonesian Muslim wear have become benchmarks in the global Muslim fashion trend,” said Svida Alisjahbana, CEO of Femina Group, this year's JWF organizer.
